My name is A. J., I live in Smiths Station, Alabama (Lee County) and this year will be my third (3rd) year to track in Alabama. For Alabama I track in Lee and surrounding Counties, but will go where needed or help you find a tracker in your area.
I also have a home in Butler Georgia (Taylor County) which is only fifty five (55) miles east of Smiths Station. This year will be my fifth (5th) year to track in Georgia. I track in Taylor and surrounding Counties, but will go where needed or help you find a tracker in that area.
My tracking season for wounded deer starts in Georgia with Bow season which starts around the middle of September and ends in Alabama the last of January.
I might mention that I am retired and available to track when other tracker can not due to their work schedule or ect. However I have several Tracker friends scattered around in other areas of Georgia and Alabama that I network with which enables us to get a tracker in your area to help you find your deer (Buck or Doe).
Last year was my first year to use the Garmin GPS dog tracking system (Astro 220 handheld and the DC-30 tracking collar). The GPS system allows me to let a dog go when needed on a deer that is not wounded very much. This allows the dog to catch up with it and bay until we can get into position to finish the kill. In a lot of cases with a dog on a leash you will never get the deer. The GPS system will also help you cover a larger area, because you can see where you have been and where you may need to go. With this said the GPS system helped me and my dogs find a lot more deer than I would have without it.
